Bright Beginnings Preschool
(School Readiness)
The purpose of the School Readiness program is to provide eligible children with adequate opportunities to participate in child development programs that enable children to enter school with the necessary skills, behaviors and family support to progress and flourish.

School Readiness, through Owatonna Public School’s Community Education Program, is designed to provide preschool experiences to 4- and 5-year-old children. A center-based preschool called Bright Beginnings is located at Roosevelt Community School. Priority enrollment in Bright Beginnings is provided to children identified as experiencing risk factors that could prevent their readiness for learning.

A unique feature of Bright Beginnings is the Parent-Child Partnership. To retain enrollment in the program, parents are asked to participate in 25 hours of activities with their child, either at home, or in the community during the program year. A "menu" of activities is provided for families to choose from. Cost to attend Bright Beginnings is based on a sliding fee scale.
Bright Beginnings classes are taught by licensed Early Childhood Teachers. Three separate curriculums used: Read, Play and Learn!, Everyday Math, and 2nd Step. Our activities are based on book modules with an emphasis on dramatic play and vocabulary development.
